In fact, you should have already installed it, as it is required for the drag and drop feature to function. If you opt to use the Shared Folders feature, note you will have to have Virtual Box Guest Additions installed on your Linux Guest. For that reason, for file transfers between your Guest and Host, you are much better off relying on using the Shared Folders feature, or via network shares on your Host. In other words, even if the feature functions properly, it does not work universally, with all Guest / Host software or file combinations. That means you should expect that certain functionality that Virtual Box would ordinarily provide maybe broken out of the box, and there may not be viable fix or work around.Īlso there are a number of limitations to drag and drop, as outlined here. Please check Google and the VirtualBox Manual before asking simple questions. PLUS a detailed description of the problem, what research you have done, and the steps you have taken to fix it. Whether you have installed Guest Additions and/or Host Extensions (this solves 90% of the problems we see) Whether you have enabled VT-x/AMD-V (applicable to all hosts running 6.1 and above) and disabled HyperV (applicable to Windows 10 Hosts) This is just a friendly reminder in case you missed it.
